Buy The Best Coffee Grinder You Can Afford
Most people who buy a new espresso machine find that the coffee produced never seems to quite live up to expectations compared to what is available at the local coffee shop. There are usually two good reasons why you can’t make the perfect cup of coffee at home.
1. You haven’t learned to use the machine properly
2. You are using coffee which you bought pre-ground from the supermarket.
What’s wrong with the ground coffee you find on the supermarket shelf?
1. Pre-ground coffee isn’t necessarily bad quality but by the time you use it in your machine it is no longer fresh and therefore will produce a cup of coffee which is less than ideal. Even though the methods used to pack ground coffee are quite advanced in comparison to a few years ago you still won’t get anything as good as freshly ground.
2. The quantities of coffee you find in the pre-ground packs are too large for most people to use quickly. When you get round to using the last remnants of the coffee the result will be even less pleasant.
3. With pre-ground coffee you have no control over the exact fineness of the coffee which plays a crucial role in the quality of the final liquid.
Ground too finely your espresso machine will have difficulty pushing the water through the grounds meaning you won’t get any coffee. Grind your beans too course and the water won’t pick up the flavors of the coffee.
The only possible solution to these problems is to invest in the best coffee grinder you can afford.

Our little Braun coffee grinder has got a workout over the past 15 years from at least daily use and often twice a day use. We love it dna it has stood the test of time!
