Cosmetic Foundation Tips
A good cosmetic foundation is a critical aspect of applying your makeup. Once you have picked the best coverage and finish, you will want to choose a good color shade to match your skin tone.
There are many alternatives of foundation shades available nowadays for very pale skin to the darkest of skin tones. Here’s a few quick tips to get the best of your cosmetic foundation.
1. Apply makeup in the following sequence:
a. Under-eye concealers (if needed)
b. Foundation
c. Blushers
d. Powders
e. Eye Makeup
f. Lip Makeup
2. Always put on your cosmetic foundation makeup in a bright well-lit room to make it easy to see any areas that have not blended in well with your skin tone.
3. Remember that your makeup area is not just one single skin color or tone. Be particular attention to jaw line keeping in mind that your neck is generally a different skin tone than your face
4. Always moisturize before applying your cosmetic foundation. Start with clean hands and a clean face. Apply your moisturizer. Allow skin to moisturize for 10-15 minutes. Apply your cosmetic foundation to your freshly moisturized face only after you are confident that the moisturizer has been absorbed into your skin.
5. Understand the proper goal of using foundations. It used to be that cosmetic foundations were cakey and put very heavy for the “perfect porcelain” look. The flawless look is a thing of the past.
Of course, you still want your face to look good. These days, your goal is to not look perfect and flawless…but to look natural with a healthy glow…and to actually look like we are NOT wearing makeup.
So learn to celebrate that we are all different and we all have imperfections. Looking beautiful doesn’t mean looking perfect anymore.
